SIA raids 36-year-old Kashmiri Pandit murder case: Terrorists killed father-son in 1990, body found hanging from tree

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday conducted searches at nine places in connection with the 1990 massacre of Kashmiri Pandit father-son duo. These include Jammu, Baramulla, Shopian, Anantnag. The case pertains to the abduction and murder of Kashmiri Pandit writer and social activist Sarbananda Kaul Premi and his son Virendra Kaul. Both were residents of Sof Shali in Kokernag in Anantnag. In 1990, a case was registered at Doru police station in Anantnag. It is now being investigated by the SIA. A few days later, on May 1, 1990, the bodies of the two were found hanging from a tree. Earlier, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) had conducted searches at several places simultaneously in Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on August 8. During a search of a house in Hiller Shahbad area of Anantnag, a CIK team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Farooq Ahmed seized two digital devices. According to officials, the seizure was made in connection with an FIR registered at CIK Kashmir Police Station.
