Women's Asia Cup 2026: Smriti Mandhana's storm hits Hong Kong, India reach semi-finals of Asia Cup

Smriti Mandhana's brilliant innings helped Team India win their second match of the 2026 Women's Asia Cup. The seventh match of the tournament was played between India and Hong Kong in Dubai on Thursday (September 3). Batting first, Team India scored 193 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana scored 124 runs off 64 balls with 14 fours and 7 sixes. Chasing the target, Hong Kong were all out for just 56 runs in 16.2 overs. Deepti Sharma was the highest wicket-taker for the team with 3 wickets. India won the match by 137 runs. With this victory, Team India made it to the semifinals.

All the other batsmen for India failed except Mandhana. Shefali Verma scored 28 off 17 balls. This included 3 fours and 2 sixes

Apart from this, Pratika Rawal scored 10 runs, Richa Ghosh scored 11 runs, captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 10 runs, Bharti Fulmali scored 2 runs and Deepti Sharma scored 1*.

The Hong Kong team failed miserably in the chase. Hong Kong looked completely ruined while descending to the chase. The team had a poor start. The first wicket fell for just 2 runs. After this, the team's wickets kept falling continuously. The second wicket fell for 29 runs, the third for 31, the fourth for 36, the fifth for 52, the sixth for 54, the seventh for 55, the eighth for 55, the ninth for 56 and the tenth wicket for 56 runs.

Mandhana scored her 18th international century in the match. With this, she became the batsman to score the most centuries in women's international cricket. She surpassed Australia's Meg Lanning, who has 17 centuries to her name.
