Kokroch Janata Party demonstration in Pune: Founder Abhijeet says Maratha Empire map should be re-added to NCERT, Wangchuk releases education manifesto

The Kokroch Janata Party (CJP) staged a demonstration at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus in Pune on Thursday. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk was also present at the event. Hundreds of students and supporters arrived with posters and banners and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Sonam Wangchuk released the CJP's education manifesto. He said that it emphasizes on preventing paper leakage, timely declaration of results, increasing transparency in recruitment and entrance examinations, fixing accountability of exam agencies and addressing the problems of students due to delays in exams. Deepak, the founder of the CJP, in his speech claimed that more people have gathered in Pune than at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Deepak also placed 5 demands before the government. He also demanded that the map of the Maratha Empire be included in the NCERT books again. Indeed, NCERT had published a map of the Maratha Empire in the Class 8 book for the 2025-26 session. It depicted parts of Rajasthan as Maratha territory. Some historians and former royal families objected to this, following which the NCERT removed the map in March 2026. 3 Pictures of CJP's Exhibition... Raut claimed that he had been sent a photograph of the two. However, he did not share the photo.
