Vadodara: Padra Bar Association begins indefinite strike

The Padra Bar Association held an emergency meeting on Wednesday and unanimously passed a resolution announcing an indefinite strike against the new rules implemented by the Gujarat High Court.

In a meeting of the Bar Association held at the Civil Court under the chairmanship of Padra Bar Association President Deepak Prajapati, the lawyers expressed their dissatisfaction against the High Court's mandatory provision to print all petitions on A-4 size paper back and forth and submit them only in computerized form in the prescribed font. The lawyers said that during the day-to-day court proceedings, many petitions, including the petition of the accused's absence, the application for the accused, need to be submitted immediately. In such a situation, it is practically impossible to submit each application by typing it on the computer, preparing it in the prescribed font.

The lawyers submitted that earlier in the printed format petitions, the name of the court, case number, details of the parties and necessary reasons were handed over to the court immediately and submitted to the court immediately, thereby facilitating the functioning of the court. A copy of the resolution has been sent to the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, the Vadodara Unit Judge, the Principal District Judge of Vadodara, the Principal Senior Civil Judge of Padra and the Gujarat Bar Council. Until the High Court withdraws the circular. The indefinite strike has been going on since August 5. In the meantime, all members of the Padra Bar Association will remain absent from the entire court proceedings except bail applications.
