Vadodara: Potholes on the overbridge near Kandari village even before the inauguration

A new overbridge has been constructed on the national highway passing near Kandari village in Karjan taluka. Which is yet to be launched. Vehicular movement has started for the last one and a half months. There are potholes on the bridge due to normal rainfall on that overbridge. The levelling of the bridge is not proper and rainwater is also choked.

Residents of Kandari village have to cross the road to go towards Vadodara and Bharuch. The agricultural land of the village is located on the opposite side of the road. For agricultural work, one has to cross the road on foot, bikes and tractors. There used to be many accidents in which innocent people lost their lives. For this, the villagers had demanded an overbridge near Kandari village on the highway. That overbridge was sanctioned at a cost of crores. The bridge was constructed by a private agency for the last one and a half months. The overbridge is yet to be inaugurated but due to heavy vehicular movement on the highway, motorists used to pass through the bridge without the inauguration. When the monsoon began, there was a commotion due to large potholes on the newly constructed bridge in the normal rainfall of 3 to 4 inches. The private agency has been in a hurry to dig holes to hide corruption. It appears that the potholes on the road have not been preserved on a permanent basis. It looks unpredictable. While the levelling on the overbridge by a private agency is not appropriate, the bridge is also waterlogged.

The overbridge has been constructed at a cost of crores of rupees for the convenience of motorists and to prevent accidents near Kandari village, but due to the poor quality of the bridge work and the use of inferior materials, the bridge has been left with potholes due to normal rainfall. Even after spending crores of rupees in grants from the government, it is the turn of the motorists to pass through potholes.
