The Election Commission in West Bengal released the new voter list on Saturday (28 February 2026) after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. According to Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, SIR The number of voters in the electoral roll of West Bengal after the names deleted and added during the process is 7,04,59,284. At the same time, the names of more than 61 lakh people were deleted.
Under the SIR process, physical verification of voters was done, in which booth level officers themselves went and distributed and collected voter roll forms. This helped in the removal of deceased, permanently excluded voters and duplicate names. Before the SIR, as on 27th October 2025, there were a total of 7,66,37,529 electors in West Bengal, which included 3,89,03,865 electors of males, 3,77,31,887 and 1,777 of transgenders.
SIR, 58,20,899 forms were not received, including 24,16,852 deceased, 12,20,039 absent, among others. As per the draft publication dated 16 December 2025, the number of voters decreased to 7,08,16,630. This includes 3,61,99,391 male voters, 3,46,15,837 female voters and 1,402 transgender voters. Also, there are 4,09,462 voters above 85 years of age, 85 voters living abroad and 4,60,479 PwD voters<>.
The final voter list published on February 28, 2026, has a total of 7,04,59,284 voters, including 3,60,22,642 males, 3,44,35,260 females and 1,382 transgender voters. Following the directions of the Supreme Court, judicial scrutiny of the identity documents of about 60 lakh voters is going on by the judicial officers appointed by the Election Commission of India, while the names of 61,78,245 people have been deleted
