These awards recognize outstanding and creative literary works in the Gujarati language while encouraging the new generation of writers and poets to pursue excellence in literary creation.
The Kavi-Sangat Award for 2024 has been conferred upon veteran Gujarati ghazal poet Suresh Parmar ‘Sur’ for his ghazal collection Tari Kasam. The 2025 award has been presented to young poet and writer Dr. Brijesh Panchal ‘Madhur’ for his poetry collection Maunthi Shabdmaa Kaanu Padshe.
According to Gulam Abbas ‘Nashad’, Convener of the organization and a senior ghazal poet, the award is intended to encourage and honor high-quality literary works published in Gujarati each year. He believes that such recognitions not only acknowledge the individual achievements of authors but also contribute significantly to strengthening the rich tradition of Gujarati language and literature.
The submitted works were evaluated by renowned poet and literary critic Dr. Pradeep Rawal ‘Sumiran’ of Rajkot. The winning entries were selected on the basis of various criteria, including literary merit, originality, linguistic expression, stylistic distinction, creativity, and overall effectiveness of the work.
In his remarks, Dr. Rawal noted that both award-winning works demonstrate a remarkable blend of linguistic maturity, artistic expression, and emotional sensitivity. He added that these creations have the ability to engage readers with new dimensions of thought and experience.
It is noteworthy that Kavi-Sangat, Vadodara has been actively promoting Gujarati poetry and literature for many years through regular poetry gatherings, literary programs, and creative dialogues.
