New faces are constantly getting opportunities in Team India's fast bowling, but some old names have been away from international cricket for a long time. Mohammed Shami, Umran Malik and Khaleel Ahmed are 3 such fast bowlers, who have played cricket for India, but are currently out of the team. If you look at the last international matches of the three, the picture looks very different.
Mohammed Shami is the most experienced name among the three. He made a comeback to international cricket in 2025. Shami played his last T20 International match on 2 February 2025 against England in Mumbai. His last ODI was the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on 9 March 2025. In this match, India won the title by defeating New Zealand.
When did Umran Malik last play
Khaleel Ahmed's Last International Match
Khaleel Ahmed has been out of the ODI team for a long time. His last ODI was against the West Indies on 14 August 2019. But, in 2024, he made a comeback to T20 International and also played on the Sri Lanka tour after the series against Zimbabwe. His last T20I was against Sri Lanka on 30 July 2024.
The three players have been out of the team for a long time, questions may arise about the selection, but on the basis of these figures alone, it will not be right to say that they are being wronged. There are many reasons behind selection in the team such as form, fitness, performance and the need of the team.
