Hotel owner beats young man to death

Lunawada: The youth , who had gone to a hotel on Limdia Chowkdi Veerpur Road in Mahisagar district to take dalbati, had a fight with Isam by giving him only one bucket less and kicking him in the  stomach, causing serious internal injuries.

        According to police sources, Rajubhai alias Jayantibhai Vankar (45), a resident of Isroda village in Khanpur taluka of Mahisagar district, had gone to the hotel on Limdia Chowkdi Road to collect dalbati. He had eaten dalbati  and packed a dalbati. As there was less than one bowl, he told the hotel manager that one bowl was less. On hearing Rajubhai's words, the manager of the hotel, Amitbhai Patel, provoked him to  fight  with him and abused him and beat him up. A man standing at the counter of the  hotel was also beaten up. The  injured went home and spoke to  his wife. He called 108 and took him to Lunawada for treatment and from there he was admitted to Godhra and then to Vadodara SSG Hospital for further treatment where he died during treatment. Thus, the death of the young man who was beaten up for just one bowl spread a feeling of anger in the entire Mahisagar panth. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, a police team, including district police chief Rakesh Barot, reached the hotel at Limdia and conducted further investigation and launched  a  manhunt to arrest the  accused.

 Vadodara: The injured Rajubhai Chauhan was brought to Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara for treatment. Rajubhai's death during treatment late in the night had spread a sense of anger in his family and society. Congress MLAs and Dalit  leaders also rushed to Vadodara. Initially, a case was registered only under the section of assault. Until the accused were nabbed, the  family and the society refused to accept the body. But Sayaji rushed to  the hospital. The family members and community leaders were finally ready to accept the body as they were assured of judicial action.
