Ahmedabad girl Basuri shines Alia!: Week's hard work brought 'Rang', made the heroine a 'princess' and won the hearts of Bhurias.

The 79th edition of the world's most prestigious Cannes Film Festival got off to a grand opening in France. Like every year, this year too, Bollywood beauties are dominating the red carpet, but this time Gujarat is blooming with special pride. The reason is - Alia Bhatt's adorable look and stunning art carved on it! Ahmedabad-based muralist Basuri Choksi has used his brush magic to create Alia's princess look. In an exclusive conversation with Divya Bhaskar, Basuri shared the thrilling details behind the scenes of this international project. When Alia Bhatt made her entry into a luxurious gown of green mint and pastel shades, all eyes were fixed on her. It was no ordinary gown, but a lively poem on a silky organza fabric. Hand-painting on the theme of nature, flowers and landscape on this beautiful gown is none other than Ahmedabad-based muralist and artist Basuri Choksi. Basuri herself was stunned for two minutes when she saw Alia in this outfit for the first time. She says, "It seemed that the true colours of my art blossomed only after Alia wore this gown." A week of hard work and preparing a 'detailing' gown was nothing short of a challenge. "I didn't have a lot of time to prepare the outfit. I worked continuously for 10 to 12 hours for a week to complete the work. In the meantime, I had to run the brush very carefully, as there is no room for error on such a fabric. When you do art on the wall and you have to do the same art on a canvas or different fabrics, you have to be a little more careful." I did in-depth research on its importance, culture and geography. The landscape there is very unique. The shades of dark and light blue formed by the amalgamation of both the sea and sky, I have depicted them in my paintings. The hills there are covered with a lavender flower sheet, so I used those local botanicals. Rhea suggested that we work on matching 'Summer and Happy Vibes'. That's how I painted my mind's colours on the gown." 'AI can never beat the handcraft' Bhasuri proudly says, "Rhea Kapoor's effort to bring the mantra of 'Local for Vocal' to the global stage was heartwarming for me. In my opinion, this is the first full-hand-painted gown that anyone has ever worn. Even in today's digital age, the idea of preparing an outfit by human hand and not by machine can be anything more upgraded. I don't think any AI or technology can ever beat this 'hand touch craft'." "To be honest, when I was painting, I never thought whether it was for Alia Bhatt or for the Cannes Festival. I was just lost in my art. I wanted to give my best in whatever opportunity I got. It's not just my hard work, it's Rhea's styling and fashion designer Yash Patil's hard work. When you have the hard work of so many big people on your shoulders, the responsibility definitely increases.' Who designed this princess look? The work of transforming this stunning art of Bansuri into a wearable masterpiece has been done by celebrity corset designer Yash Patil. Yash Patil has previously made a metallic gota jacket and silk organza corset for Alia. The combination of fitted top bodice and floor-length skirt in Alia's gown is giving her a modern fairytale-like look. When Alia was seen in this pastel gown outside the Hotel Martinez, it didn't take long for her photos to go viral on social media. People are praising Alia's 'simple and dreamy' look. The festival started on May 12 and will continue till May 23. So far, five looks of Alia have been revealed. Alia Bhatt's Five Looks: Also read this news related to the ear...
