The Meteorological Department has predicted severe heat wave in the city from April 14 to 20. Temperatures will continue to rise for the next seven days. Especially in Lambha, Chandkheda, Naroda and Wanch village near Ramol in the city, the temperature is likely to be above 41 degrees Celsius in the next three days. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided 'hotspots' based on the maximum temperature of the area, the information of which can be obtained by the citizens through the website link and QR code. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the city will be between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius till April 20 morning. To cope with the rising heat, AMC has implemented a heat action plan. ORS and drinking water arrangements have been made in schools, anganwadis, construction sites, industries and Kadiyanacas in hotspot areas. More than 1300 water parbs have been started in the city in collaboration with NGOs, out of which about 200 are in high-traffic areas. Separate beds for heat-stroke patients have been arranged in AMC-run hospitals and community health centers. Most municipal schools have been shifted to morning shifts to protect children from the heat. Children will be encouraged to drink water through 'water bell' every one and a half hours. As many as 2074 anganwadis in the city have been provided with ORS and drinking water at every construction site. ORS and drinking water have been provided at 66 Kadiyannakas and 65 Shramik Nakas. More than 19000 field duty personnel from the health department, engineering department and sanitation workers have been given white caps to protect them from the heat. City parks will remain open till late
More than 300 parks in the city are open from 6 am to 11 pm and drinking water has been arranged in each garden. ORS and drinking water have been arranged at 34 shelter homes in the city. Special arrangements for safety of passengers by AMTS-BRTS
AMTS has set up 25 air coolers and 10 water coolers for the public at various bus depots and terminals in the city. BRTS has made arrangements for ORS and waterjugs at 7 different bus depots and 199 bus stations in the city. Traffic police, CTM Green nets have been installed at crossroads, Victoria Garden crossroads, Pushpakunj crossroads, Jawahar Chowk crossroads, Memco crossroads.
