At present, a woman suffers from cervical cancer every eight minutes, even worse is that cancer cannot be protected against due to the delayed diagnosis of cancer. Cancer treatment is also possible if it is reported in time. In order to spread the message to more people, a cancer awareness program was organized today by Anjana Hazare Community Development Center in collaboration with Kundaria Cancer Prevention Foundation and Anaemia Prevention Program of Rajkot. The programme was coordinated by the Microbiology Department of Tolani College of Arts and Sciences. As many as 10 professors and more than 250 college students showed active participation. An hour-long mentoring lecture was organized at Tolani Commerce College at different times for all the women employees and students of Tolani Vidha Mandir. Kairvi Mardia gave an informative session on the different types of cancer commonly seen in women, emphasizing on self-testing, prevention, medical tests and vaccines for breast cancer and cervical cancer. The objective of the programme was to educate women about the importance of HPV vaccination and cancer prevention. The young students of the college were given an understanding that young women should be motivated and inspire others so that the disease can be suppressed as soon as it grows.
