Vadodara: The State Government is preparing to table the Common Act University Bill for all the grant-in-aid universities of the state, including M.S. University, in the Assembly and it is being opposed by the Congress.
As a part of which, Congress leader in the assembly Amit Chavda visited M.S. University and held a meeting with the Congress-inspired Senate members, student leaders as well as local Congress leaders of the university.
The only voice of the Senate members was that due to this bill, the autonomy of M.S. University is going to end. Representatives of students, teachers and employees will not have any existence. Only those who will get space will get space. There will be no one to raise the questions of the students.
On the other hand, Congress leader Amit Chavda said that the value of land of all government universities is Rs 50,000 crore. The government is eyeing these lands. The Board of Management will be allowed to sell these places. Under this, it will be two lakh rupees a year.
Congress leaders appealed that the people of Gujarat should register a protest with the government to stop the commercialization of education.
