The entire area has been plagued by foul smell due to filth and heaps of garbage near the open pond next to the water distribution center opposite Shahe-Alam Residency in Ramol-Hathijan ward of Ahmedabad. While cleanliness drives are being carried out across Gujarat, including the whole of Ahmedabad, the situation at the site raises questions about the functioning of the administration. Heaps of garbage, filth, debris and various used items dumped by the miners have been dumped here and there in an area of about 500 meters, including the area where the paver block has been laid near the lake adjacent to the water distribution center. The stench emanating from the lake and the filth spread around are causing a lot of trouble to the local residents. The cleanliness of the area has also been questioned as heaps of garbage and dirt are seen around the lake, especially near the main road connecting the Vastral Ring Road. Locals have demanded that the garbage lying at the site be completely cleaned and debris disposed of, not limited to the cleanliness drive.
