As the current term of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is coming to an end, the election process for the president, vice president and managing committee has been initiated. On the last day of the final draw of forms, 40 members of the managing committee and one form each for the post of president and vice president were withdrawn. Many problems in the traders and industries of Bhavnagar are hindering development. Instead of waiting for a concrete outcome of the questions, the chamber is content with mere presentations. At that time, before the end of the current term of the Chamber of Commerce, the election was announced according to the tradition of years. On the last day of filing of forms, 42 forms were filled for the post of 40 members of the managing committee and 4 forms were filled for the post of president and vice president. On Thursday, the last day of withdrawal of forms, four more filled forms were withdrawn. Now, instead of the 40 members of the managing committee, 40 forms are left and one form each for the post of president. So there is no scope for election as there are no contestants as there are as many forms as there are as many seats. The managing committee and president and vice president will be officially announced by the election officer on Friday. Tejasbhai Seth of Seth Brothers will be appointed as president and Ashokbhai Kotadiya as vice president. After the expiry of the current term, the secretary and treasurer will also be appointed. It is likely that the new body will be given power by clearing the old accounts at the AGM of the Chamber of Commerce in June-July. The newly-elected president, vice president and managing committee are expected to come out of the gathering of political leaders in the coming days and try to save Bhavnagar from collapsing by resolving the issues hindering development and employment. The office bearers of the district chamber are also unopposed. Along with the Chamber, the election of the President of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the years 2026-27 and 2027-28 as well as 24 members of the Executive were announced. On the last day of withdrawal of forms on the 12th, the election of the district chamber will not be held as all the 23 members of the executive as well as one form each for the post of president and vice president. Ravindrabhai D. Ravindrabhai is the president of the District Chamber. Ghewaria and Deepakbhai Ramniklal Dholakia will be appointed as vice-presidents. All the district chamber members have been unopposed as there is no one in the race. As the Returning Officer, C.A. Kishorebhai R. Shah was on duty.
