'Sunday on Cycle' Rally in Godhra: Citizens to Lead a Healthy Lifestyle under Fit India Movement

The first ever cycle rally was organized in Godhra under the 'Sunday on Cycle' programme under the central government's 'Fit India' campaign. The rally was attended by citizens, youth, students, sportspersons and health enthusiasts from different parts of the city in large numbers. The main objective of the cycle rally was to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, to understand the importance of exercise in daily life and to encourage the use of bicycle as an environment friendly mode of transport. Cycling protects against diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity, as well as plays an important role in reducing pollution. Union Minister and inspiration for 'Fit India' movement Mansukh Mandaviya has promoted cycling extensively to lead a healthy lifestyle and protect the environment. Under his guidance, people are encouraged to cycle regularly and be physically active through programmes like 'Sunday on Cycle' under the 'Fit India' campaign. Inspired by the same campaign, the rally was organized by Lok Vigyan Kendra, Godhra. The rally started from Bamroli Road in Godhra city and passed through Gadukpur Bypass Chowk, Parwadi Chowk, Dahod Road and reached Bamrauli Road. According to the organisers of the Godhra Lok Vigyan Kendra, the rally is not just an event but an attempt to spread health awareness among the citizens of the city. In the times to come, efforts will be made to make the 'Fit India Movement' a mass movement by organizing more such events.
