GCAS has started the process for admission to 15 government universities in the state. Amidst many protests, the admission process in government universities will be conducted through GCAS this year as well. Students will be able to apply online from 7th to 28th of this month. The first admission round will be held from June 2. The admission process will be conducted through GCAS in a total of four rounds. The entire process will run from May 7 to June 29. After which a new academic session will be started. Several students deprived of admissions due to glitches in GCAS portal
For the last three years, all government universities in the state have been admitting students through GCAS. Though the GCAS system has to go through 30-30 rounds of admission every year, many students miss out on admission due to glitches in the GCAS portal and end up getting admission in a private college or university. Therefore, private universities are directly taking advantage of the glitch in the GCAS portal. Therefore, ABVP and NSUI have demanded that the admission process through GCAS be stopped. It has also been demanded that private colleges or universities be included in GCAS. Admission process in more than 100 other undergraduate programmes begins
But despite the opposition of student unions, this year also it has been announced to provide admission to all government universities in the state from the GCAS portal. The Gujarat Board has declared the results of the Class 12 board exams. With this, the exercise for the admission of students in colleges has been started. GCAS will start the process of admission to B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. and more than 100 other undergraduate programmes in government universities across the state. The registration process will start from May 7. However, this time it is planned to complete the admission process in a shorter round. New 'AI Agent' feature launched on GCAS portal
Also, this year, for the ease of the students, a new 'AI Agent' feature has been launched on the GCAS portal. Students will now be able to get information, cut-off and other necessary details of the government or private universities or any of their affiliated colleges linked to the GCAS portal instantly through calls or chatbots. The chatbot will also be able to contact the GCAS portal and the 7969799680 number to get information by talking to the 'AI Agent'. Reporting will have to be done at the university and college within the time limit
The university-college-program in which the student gets admission will have to first confirm the admission through OTP on the dashboard in his log-in and then go to the concerned university-college in person and report to the university-college within the stipulated time. The OTP given on your registered mobile and email will have to be given to the university/college authorities to confirm the admission to that program. If the student does not confirm his admission to the college within the stipulated time after receiving the offer of admission, then he will not have the right to admission in the concerned college.
