The Hathikhana Marketyard near Tul Siwadi in the city is still considered to be the main centre of trade in central Gujarat. The Agricultural Produce Market Committee was established 67 years ago in 1958 in Vadodara, one of the largest districts of the state of Gujarat. Since 1997, the Hathikhana Market Yard has become operational and has gained an important place in the business map.
The Hathikhana market is still a symbol of trust for cereals, pulses, oil, spices, dry fruits and daily essentials. Built with the aim of getting the right weight, maximum price and cash payment to the farmers, the Abhzar is today a major hub of retail and wholesale trade in the city.
