On the one hand, there is a severe shortage of diesel in Kutch district, on the other hand, the elements who illegally store and sell fuel have become active. Complaints of illegal sale of diesel were raised in Khavda and Dhordo areas of Bhuj taluka. A surprise search was conducted in Dhordo diocese on 06/05/2026. During the course of the operation, a quantity of 26,000 litres of flammable petroleum liquid like diesel has been seized from two different locations. An investigation by the supply department found 20,000 litres in one tank and an estimated 6,000 litres in a browser. Preliminary investigation revealed that the tank was found to be an RS tank. Construction'' and the browser were found to belong to a firm called 'Harsh Earthmovers'. At the time of investigation, no bills, licenses or licences were found in the possession of these firms. As a result, the system collected 26,000 litres of stock and equipment for a total of Rs. Rs 20,80,000 has been seized. In this regard, the district supply officer said that the seized substance is likely to be adulterated with a flammable substance like diesel. In view of this serious matter, a case has been registered at the collector level under Section 6-1 (Essential Commodities Act). The companies whose equipment has been seized have been issued show-cause notices and the process of seeking evidence is underway. If the companies concerned fail to produce satisfactory evidence, all these stocks will be handed over to the state (government) by the Collector. Apart from this, a proposal may also be taken up to register a police complaint against the individuals and companies involved in this scam. Even when there was a shortage of LPG gas in the country, including Kutch, the police and the supply department caught the people who were selling LPG illegally. A total of 174 gas bottles were found in the raid. Goods worth Rs. 1,59,800 have been seized. A shop named 'Swaminarayan Gas Service Centre' located in Pramukh Swami Nagar in Khavda was raided. From there, 11 filled and 4 empty commercial cylinders and 7 filled and 2 empty domestic cylinders were recovered. The Department of Supply has received a total of Rs. Storage or sale of petrol and diesel without a licence is a serious offence under the 'Essential Commodities Act, 1955'. According to this law, the offender can be jailed for up to 7 years and fined. Further, stringent criminal action is also taken for endangering the lives of people as per 'The Petroleum Act' and 'Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita'.
