
VMC Election: After the announcement of the results of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation General Election 2026, the political atmosphere is now heating up. Former Leader of Opposition in the Congress Ami Rawat and Nikulbhai Patel have approached the court alleging serious irregularities in the counting of votes in Ward No. 1 seat. An election petition has been filed in the court of Principal Senior Civil Judge, Vadodara, seeking a recount.
What are the main allegations in the petition?
Advocates Jagdev Parmar and Aqib Rathod on behalf of the petitioners have submitted under Section-17 of the GPMC Act, 1949 that during the counting on 28th April, 2026, there has been malpractice in the final result sheet prepared by the Returning Officer during the counting on 28th April, 2026 in violation of the rules.
