Asian Games 2026: Sujeeth wins 2 gold in 1 minute

Asian Games 2026: India won 2 gold medals within a minute at the Asian Games on Friday. At 3:08 pm, boxer Ankush Panghal won the gold by becoming the champion in the men's 80 kg weight category. Exactly a minute before that, Sujit Kalkale won the gold medal in the men's 65 kg category of wrestling.

 

Boxer Parveen Hooda won gold medals for India in the women's 65 kg weight category and Lovlina Borgohain in the 75 kg category. For the first time, two women boxers from India have won gold medals in the same Asian Games. Mary Kom had earlier won a gold medal in 2014. In the morning, the Indian women's archery team also won a gold medal in the recurve category. With this, a total of 15 gold medals have been won by India and India has reached the 5th position in the medal tally.

India wins its first gold in wrestling

India's Sujit Kalkale won the gold medal in the men's 65kg freestyle category. In the final, Sujit made a spectacular comeback after trailing and defeated Kudiev 10-9. At one point in the bout, Sujit was trailing 2-9 with just 1 minute 40 seconds remaining

 

Sujeet then took consecutive takedowns to quickly score 2-2 points three times and take the score to 8-9. In the last 11 seconds, Sujit did one more takedown. This gave him 2 points and his score went up to 10. With this, he surpassed Kudiev's 9 points to win the gold medal.

Ankush Panghal wins gold in 80kg final

India's Ankush Panghal won the gold medal in the men's 80 kg category. In the final, he defeated Kim Min-seong of South Korea 4-0. With Ankush's gold, a total of 3 gold medals in Indian boxing have reached today.

Lovlina throws 'golden punch' in boxing on her birthday 

Lovlina Borgohain has won a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. She defeated Chinese boxer Bao Jieyi 5-0 in the final of the women's 75 kg event. After the first 2 rounds, Lovlina was leading by a very close margin, but in the final round, Lovlina took a one-sided lead. This is the first time since 2014 that an Indian woman boxer has won a gold medal at the Asian Games.

Parveen Hooda creates history in boxing

Parveen has won a gold medal in the women's 65 kg boxing event. She won by a very close distance against Chinese boxer Chin Chen. Three out of five judges ruled in her favour. With this, this was India's 13th gold medal in the 2026 Asian Games and 73rd medal overall
