Iran-Oman deal will give a blow to Trump, what will happen in the Strait of Hormuz now?

Amid the ongoing conflict and tension in West Asia, Iran is now preparing to do something about the Strait of Hormuz, which can be a huge blow to the US President Donald Trump. In fact, Iran has expressed hope that in the coming days, an agreement related to the establishment of a new shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz will be signed. However, the country's top security official said that Iran will not give any guarantee of the complete reopening of this strategic waterway until the US attack and other adversarial activities stop.

Ongoing Talks on Shipping Corridor between Iran and Oman - Rezaei

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said in an interview to the state-run news channel on Sunday (September 6, 2026), ' Iran and Oman are negotiating the arrangement of a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz. Some parts of this route will pass through the waters of Iran and Oman and Tehran will manage the arrival and departure of ships through the proposed corridor.

Strait of Hormuz will only open if the US is away from attacks - Rezai

He said, ' According to the agreement, the US had to lift the naval blockade of Iran, while Tehran had to ensure the safe movement of commercial ships from the Strait of Hormuz. However, due to disputes over its implementation, this agreement failed.
