Report: Iranian Supreme Leader's Two London Flats To Be Sold Due To Loan Default; Rs 242 Crore Penthouse To Be Sold For Rs 153 Crore

Two luxury apartments in London associated with Iran's Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei have been put up for sale. According to a report in The Sunday Times, one of these luxury penthouses was bought in 2016 for around Rs 242.53 crore. It is now being sold for around Rs 153.17 crore. That is, its current demand is about Rs 89.36 crore less than the purchase price. The records of both the apartments record Iranian banker Ali Ansari as the owner. According to the report, Ansari has not been able to repay the bank loan, due to which the property is currently in receivership. Being in a property receivership means that when a landlord cannot repay a bank loan, the management of the property is handed over to an impartial third person (called the 'receiver'). So that he can recover the bank's money by selling it or renting it out. The brochure for the sale of the property has no connection with Iran The brochure issued for the sale of the property makes no mention of its political or Iran-related connections. However, it states that the property is in receivership. Therefore, its complete information is not available. Buyers are advised to check all the necessary information related to the property themselves before making a deal. According to the Daily Mail, both properties are very close to the Israeli Embassy. From here, the rear view of the embassy is visible and the distance is less than 50 meters. The owner of the property, Ansari Mujtaba's main financier, The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Ali Ansari, the owner of these two properties, in July. The United States described him as Mujtaba Khamenei's main financier. According to the United States, Ansari operates a large network of assets around the world that benefit Mujtaba Khamenei and others associated with the Iranian regime. Britain has also imposed sanctions on Ansari before. The British government accused him of providing financial support to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Under these sanctions, his assets in Britain were frozen and his entry into the UK was banned. However, Ansari has denied these allegations. Employees have not seen Khamenei or Ansari there. According to the report, employees working at Palace Green Development have not seen Ali Ansari or Mujtaba Khamenei there since the apartment was purchased. Mujtaba Khamenei has also not been seen in public for a long time. He has not held any public events or made any statements since his father was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike in February. Due to this, the situation regarding his current whereabouts and situation is unclear. Both the penthouses are valued at Rs 459 crore. The total value of both the properties is 3.6 crore pounds i.e. about Rs 459.54 crore. These were purchased separately in 2014 and 2016.
