The West Bengal STF has claimed that suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Hameem Mandal, arrested from Bardhaman district, had hatched a conspiracy to sabotage the Jantar Mantar protest in Delhi. According to the STF, the handlers sitting in Pakistan instructed Hamim to enter the student demonstration of the CJP wearing a police uniform and create unrest there. According to STF IG Gaurav Sharma, Hamim was also tasked with monitoring the activities of Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and collecting information related to his security. Hamim was arrested from East Bardhaman two days ago. The court has sent him to 14-day STF custody. The STF has also arrested Hamim's girlfriend Arpita Sarkar from Jharkhand. The agency claims that the two were working at the behest of the Shahzad Bhatti gang linked to Pakistan. Arpita Hamim and his girlfriend have been accused of honeytrapping the son of Bengal minister Umesh Rai by honeytrapping him and conspiring to extort ransom from his family. According to the STF, Arpita used to collect information from many leaders and other well-known people through a honeytrap and pass it on to Hamim. His WhatsApp chats have indicated contacts linked to Pakistan. A senior STF official said that investigations have revealed that the conspiracy was hatched by Pakistani handlers. The role of each accused and how many others were involved is being investigated. Hameem became a radical with social media, foreign SIMs were also found, 5 claims of STF... According to the STF, 23-year-old Hamim was working in Howrah. He had gone to Bardhaman before the Bengal assembly elections where he had rented an apartment. He had been in hiding for the last two-three months to avoid the eyes of the investigating agencies. Hamim had joined the terror outfit's module through social media a year ago which was run by gangster Shehzad Bhatti and his associate Ajmal Gujjar. Hamim was tasked with monitoring the activities of the CM by Pakistani handlers. He was asked to gather information about places where the chief minister could stay without security. The STF held a press conference on Saturday after the state minister's complaint. Meanwhile, officials said the probe into the module began when inputs were received from a government minister about a conspiracy to extort money and kidnap his son using a honey-trap. According to the official, the investigation revealed that an organisation was behind this. This led to the detection of a social media handle in Sahibganj which was being operated by a girl named Arpita Sarkar. A probe of the social media accounts revealed the mandal to the authorities.
