A shocking case of caste-related insult and vandalism has come to light with a sanitation worker at Bhagwati International Public School in Patan. Taraben Valmiki, who has been working as a sanitation worker in the school for 16 years, has filed a police complaint against five people. On August 26, 2025, at 1.30 pm, purviben Dave, a former teacher of the school, devarshbhai Pandya, an ex-student, Mayurbhai Naik of Kungher village and two unknown women entered the school. The men started shouting when Taraben was cleaning near the principal's office. During the incident, Taraben's hand inadvertently touched Mayurbhai and he insulted Taraben on the basis of caste. Mayurbhai told him that he would have to take a bath and threatened him. Purviben Dave also insulted Taraben on the basis of caste. Mayurbhai hurled abuses at the teachers and the principal and threw the books from the balcony. Police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Justice Code and the SC/ST Act. The accused include Purviben Dave, Devarshbhai Pandya, Mayurbhai Naik and two unidentified women. Police have initiated legal proceedings against all the accused.
