The work of laying a drinking water pipeline from Dhareshwar-Dhatarwadi dam to the municipality in Rajula taluka of Amreli district has been mired in controversy. V.C. by THE GUDC Department. Project and Infra Private Limited has been entrusted with the task. The work has been going on at a slow pace for the last few months by the contractor of the company. The road of the roads and buildings department has been demolished and the work of laying the pipeline has been started. No attention is paid by the contractor despite repeated representations from local sarpanches and leaders. There is a lack of safety equipment on the road. There is a dangerous situation for bikers at night. The number of small and big accidents has increased. The locals have also complained about the heady behaviour of the contractor. Rajula Marketing Yard chairman Jignesh Patel has taken up the issue with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He has demanded legal action against the contractor through a letter. Representations have been made from the local MLA to the chief minister. Motorists and locals are facing a lot of trouble due to the negligence of the contractor. Dhareshwar sarpanch Dilipbhai Sojitra said, "This is the way from Vijpadi to Rajula. From this road for a long time, a pipe line is laid by the contractor to give water to rajula municipality from Dhatarwadi dam, which breaks the road on the road which lays the pipe. There is no sticker safety, accidents happen day in and day out. There is no one to watch here, no one to pay attention to. The RNB walas do not listen despite giving notices. Mukeshbhai Solanki, a farmer from Vavera village, said, "In my field, pipes have been laid, just as the contractor puts it. I can't cultivate my farm. A pile of pipes is in my field but i don't take it. This contractor does not believe in anyone the officials seem to be scared due to the headache. Rajula Marketing Yard chairman Jigneshbhai Patel said, "Water pipelines are being laid from Dhatarwadi in our area. Despite having space on the side of the road, due to the arbitrary behavior of the contractor, the road is broken and the pipe is laid. So there were a lot of representations to us due to which we have made representations in writing through letters to our MLA and the chief minister. Rajula R&B division officer Abhijit Singh Gohil said, "We have visited the spot, caused damage on the road, issued a notice to the GUDC department. We have also asked to stop work but we have not received a response from any GUDC. Representations from people have also come to us.
