PM Modi's tribute to Nana Patekar: 6 films - 'Tiranga', 'Parinda', 'Prahar', 'Krantiveer', 'Khamoshi', 'Ankush'; Bollywood celebs also got emotional

Nana Patekar passed away today at the age of 75. He was taken to the hospital after a cardiac arrest in Goa, but the doctors could not save him. Many people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tribute to Nana Patekar on his death. On the second day of the India Mobile Congress, PM Modi said, "Nana was an extraordinary artist who made a place in the hearts of the audience through different characters." He did not remain in bondage, but flew like a bird in the sky of films. He attacked the system prevailing in the society through his films. His speech was as sharp as his silence was equally effective. He was a supporter of constant control over anti-national elements. I pay homage to Nana Patekar ji and express my condolences to his family and admirers," Rahul Gandhi said. "The news of the passing away of legendary actor Nana Patekar ji is extremely sad. Through his acting and characters, he has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and in the hearts of viewers. In this hour of grief, my deepest condolences are with his bereaved family, friends and supporters." Akshay Kumar said, "I am deeply saddened by the news of Nanaji's demise. He was one of those select actors who didn't have to do much to stop and watch. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him (Welcome) and recently (Housefull 5). I have so many memories from the sets of these two films, which I will always hold close to my heart." Riteish Deshmukh said, "The end of an era I don't have words. With the news of Nana Patekar ji's demise, it feels as if a truck has passed over me. I am very sad. He was a wonderful actor and there was no match for him. He was a hero even off the screen. He worked continuously through his charity for the welfare of the people. Mehul Kumar said, "Nana Patekar has always been a man connected to the ground." In a conversation with Divya Bhaskar, director Mehul Kumar recalled Nana Patekar and said, "I did three memorable films with him like 'Tiranga', 'Krantiveer' and 'Kohraam'. Even after the success of the films and the many awards he received, his behaviour never changed." Talking about Krantiveer, Dilip Kumar also said, "People will always remember Nana by the name of this character." He said, "During 'Kohraam', Amitabh Bachchan was a little hesitant to work with Nana initially, but later Nana and Amitabh became good friends. On the other hand, there was a good bonding between Nana and Raj Kumar on the sets of 'Tiranga'. He helped the poor and farmers a lot. Udit Narayan said, "I am shaken to hear the news of Nana's demise." In a conversation with Divya Bhaskar, singer Udit Narayan expressed grief over the demise of Nana Patekar and said, "I couldn't believe it when I heard the news in the morning." He had no answer as an actor and his personality as a person was also amazing. Udit said that he had a chance to work with Nana. During the recording of a film, Nana himself sang on the mic and told how he liked the song. Udit sang for him in a single take, after which Nana praised him. He also shared memories of working with Nana in 'Tiranga'. Jr NTR Says 'There Was Honesty In Every Character' South star Jr NTR described Nana as one of the best actors in Indian cinema. He said, "There was a certain honesty and intensity in every character of Nana. His performance was not like acting, but life on screen seemed to come true." 'Nana's contribution to Indian cinema will be remembered for generations', says NTR Prakash Raj Actor Prakash Raj remembered Nana and said, "I will always remember the moments spent with him, conversations, discussions and the food prepared by Nana's hands." He also recalled the lessons he received from Nana and said, "I will always be grateful for coming into my life." Nitin Gadkari recalled the friendship Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he and Nana Patekar had a very close and friendly relationship. He recalled Nana's more than five decades-long career and his unique dialogue presentation. Gadkari also remembered Nana's work for farmers and rural families through the NAM Foundation as a tribute. Suvendu Adhikari said- 'Indian cinema has lost its distinct voice' West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari called Nana a fearless and distinct voice of Indian cinema. He recalled his performances in 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Prahaar' and 'Ab Tak Chhappan'. He also mentioned Nana's social work and efforts for rural communities. Nana's nearly five-decade-long career Nana Patekar started his film career in 1978 with 'Gaman'. He also worked in theatre along with Hindi and Marathi cinema. His characters in films like 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Prahaar', 'Ab Tak Chappan', 'Natsamrat', 'Welcome' and 'Housefull 5' were memorable.
