Vadodara: The recent phd entrance test conducted at M.S. University has revealed a very poor result, which has also raised questions on the future of research in the university.
The thesis of 111 PhD students are already stuck as the university authorities are not calling a pg council meeting and now only 44 candidates out of 886 students who have taken the entrance test have passed.
Sources say that the UGC has tightened the norms for the PhD entrance test. In both paper one and paper two, the candidate needs to score 50 percent marks. If the candidate scores less than that in any one paper, he will not be able to qualify. Thus the number of students seeking PhD is decreasing even after passing the PhD examination.
