The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana and Kutch on September 8. Yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. According to meteorologist Abhimanyu Chauhan, an orange alert has been predicted in the districts of south Gujarat with extremely heavy rainfall. However, the intensity of rain is likely to decrease after the third day. Between 6 and 8 am, more than one and a half inches of rain fell in Rapar in Kutch and more than an inch in Bhabhar in Banaskantha. At the same time, it has been decided to close schools in Khedbrahma, Poshina and Vijayanagar talukas of Sabarkantha district. There will be heavy rains in the state for the next seven days, especially in the next 3 days. After 3 days, the intensity of rain in the state will decrease. As of 6 am on September 8, the state has received 37.13 per cent or 106.94 per cent of the season's rainfall. Gujarat has so far received 27% more rainfall than the average rainfall.
