Another serious case of fraudulent gang cheating poor and common citizens in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has come to light in Vadodara. An innocent citizen has been robbed of Rs 9.05 lakh by luring them to get a commercial shop of a government housing scheme located in Subhanpura area of Vadodara at a cheap price. The involvement of Kashyap Joshi, son of a local BJP worker, and his gang has been exposed in this entire scam. The accused made fake allotment and registry documents by forging rubber stamps and bogus signatures of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) as well as the sub-registrar's office. As the victim did not get possession of the shop for a long time, he went to the office and investigated the whole scam, following which a case was registered against four persons at Gorwa police station.
Rs 9.05 lakh duped by posing as fake officials of Housing Board
The accused, Kashyap Joshi, had falsely identified himself as an influential officer of the 'Gujarat Housing Board'. He had taken the complainant into confidence by saying that the shop was vacant in the Subhanpura housing scheme. A total amount of Rs 9.05 was extorted from the complainant at different stages on the pretext of form fees, allotment deposit and government charges. The accused created an atmosphere similar to that of the government machinery to hide the fraud. The complainant made bogus rubber stamps of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and Sub-Registrar's office, forged signatures and handed over fake government documents to the complainant. The complainant went to the VMC office on suspicion that he did not get the keys of the shop or official possession for months even after paying the money. The ground slipped from under his feet when the documents in his hand were found to be completely fake and forged.
Kashyap Joshi and 4 others booked in Gorwa police
Based on the complaint of the complainant, the Gorwa police have registered a case of cheating, breach of trust and forgery of documents under various sections of the IPC/BNS against the main mastermind Kashyap Joshi, Jill Barot, Rohan Solanki and Shubham Mahawar. According to local sources, while such controversies have come to light against Kashyap Joshi, son of a BJP worker, in the past, the Gorwa police have intensified the investigation to find out how many other people have been cheated by the gang in the name of government accommodation or shops. Police teams have conducted raids at different places to arrest the accused.
