Azam Khan sentenced to two years in jail by Rampur court in hate speech case

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been convicted in a hate speech case. This decision has been pronounced by the Court of Rampur. In 2019, a case was registered against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan at Shahzadnagar police station in Rampur for making inflammatory speeches. Azam khan was accused of making inflammatory speeches during the Lok Sabha elections, when Azam Khan was the Lok Sabha candidate from the SP-BSP alliance. The Rampur court has sentenced him to two years in jail.

Azam Khan had made statements against several officials.

During the election campaign, Azam Khan had made a statement against several officials, including the chief minister and the then district magistrate, at one of his public meetings. His video also went viral on social media. Taking cognizance of the viral video, ADO Panchayat Anil Chauhan registered a case against Azam Khan at Shahzad Nagar police station, following which the police officials investigated the matter and filed a charge sheet against Azam in the court.

Azam Khan was sentenced to death by a Rampur court in 2022.

However, Azam was later granted bail by the court in the case. All the arguments were presented by both the parties in the court in this case, only the decision was yet to come. For this, today's date was fixed by the court. Earlier in 2022, the MP-MLA court of Rampur had sentenced Azam Khan to three years in jail and a fine of Rs 25,000.
