Fraud: Rs 13.48 lakh extorted from Porbandar driver in the name of London visa: 2 persons booked

A driver, a resident of Bokhira Janakpuri Society area of Porbandar, had given Rs 13.48 lakh to the men on the pretext of sending his wife to London for work, but the men had cheated him by giving a fake COS. Punjabhai Mashribhai Modhwadia, a resident of Bokhira Janakpuri Society in Porbandar, came in contact with Pratap Merkhi Khunti, a resident of Gayatri Park in Bokhira, Porbandar and now living in London, who was working as a visa worker about two years ago. Pratap had given a total expenditure of Rs 29.50 lakh by asking for a work order for a visa. On March 15, 2024, Punjabhai gave Pratap his wife's documents, passport and Rs 9 lakh in cash. At Pratap's behest, he sent Rs 7 lakh to Maheshdan Gadhvi of Nadiad with RTGS. Later, Pratap asked Mukesh Patel of Ahmedabad to send Rs 13.48 lakh and sent the amount in three instalments. Later, Pratap gave the COS, but his wife's visa file was rejected. The UK government received an e-mail stating that the COS was incorrect and the 10-year visa was banned. Pratap returned Rs 9 lakh, while Mukesh Patel did not return the amount and lodged a complaint against the two men.
