Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently revealed that Bollywood used to receive threats from the Mumbai underworld in the 1990s. He said that despite receiving threats, Shah Rukh Khan refused to bow down to the underworld and said, "I am a Pathan, if you want to shoot, kill me." People from the underworld used to reach the sets Sanjay Gupta said that in the 1990s, the film industry was not untouched by the underworld in Mumbai. Many producers, directors, actors and actresses were constantly working in an atmosphere of fear. People associated with the underworld would sometimes call and sometimes go straight to the shooting set. Sanjay Gupta said that at that time, many such people used to come and sit on the sets of the film. They were not bothered about who was shooting there. They used to be comfortably present on the set and try to convince themselves. He said that there was interference from the underworld to the making of the film and casting the actors. Once a producer came to him and he showed the letters signed by many big actors. According to Sanjay, this was a signing letter, in which it was written that the concerned artist would work in that producer's film. The producer told him that he had the signatures of almost all the big actors and let Sanjay know the name of the actor he wanted to work with. It was said that there was pressure from the underworld behind this. Shah Rukh refused to bow down In the same conversation, Sanjay Gupta referred to Shah Rukh and said that at that time he was an actor who refused to bow down to the underworld. According to Sanjay, when Shah Rukh was threatened, he said in clear terms that he would not do any film for the underworld nor would he do a show at his behest. Recalling Shah Rukh's attitude, he said that his answer was- "I am a Pathan, if you want to shoot, kill me. I am not afraid of him." Sanjay Gupta said that Shah Rukh refused to work with him directly. According to the filmmaker, the people of the underworld also started respecting Shah Rukh. Sanjay said that he felt that there was at least one person in the industry who stood directly in front of him. Sanjay Gupta was also threatened In the conversation, Sanjay Gupta also narrated an old experience of his own. He said that in the year 1992-93, he got a call from the underworld. At that time, he was working on his films 'Atish' and 'Ram Shastra'. One morning he got a call at his house. On the other hand, the person identified himself as 'Nana'. Sanjay did not understand who Nana was. Later, he came to know that the call belonged to Chhota Rajan. According to Sanjay, he was abused on the phone. After this, he came to know through a producer that the matter was serious. He was told that some people had been sent against him. He immediately called Sanjay Dutt and asked him to help him get out of the house. After this, Sanjay Dutt sent his father Sunil Dutt's government car to his house. Sanjay Gupta got into the car and left from there. After this, there was a big twist in the story. Sanjay Gupta, who was staying at Sanjay Dutt's house, got a call from actor Aditya Pancholi. He asked where Sanjay was and said that he wanted to meet him immediately. After a while, Aditya Pancholi reached there and hugged Sanjay Gupta and said- "I am sorry yaar, this is all my fault." Sanjay asked him how his mistake was. Then Aditya said that last night he was drinking with friends. In the conversation, Aditya said that his role in 'Atish' is very good and it can make his career, but his role in 'Ram Shastra' is not so good. Aditya said that if a little pressure is put on Sanjay Gupta, then maybe he will make his role in 'Ram Shastra' better. According to Sanjay, Aditya did not call directly, but somehow his conversation went ahead and the matter reached the point of threat. After this, Sanjay Gupta was called and threatened.
