C.J. of Sarendranagar city. The residents of the city have been struggling with the months-old serious problem of drainage water back-washing in the railway underbridge connecting Hospital Road to Alankar Cinema Road. Even on non-monsoon days, there is a serious fear of spreading the epidemic due to the continuous accumulation of sewage contaminated and foul-smelling water of half to 1 foot in the underbridge. The Jhalawar Chamber of Commerce and Industries has sent a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner and Mayor of Surendranagar Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps to find a permanent technical solution to this problem. Though this underbridge is covered with a roof over it, water comes back due to improper slope and faulty drainage line. This road is called RPP Girls' School, C.P. As it leads to well-known educational institutions like Ojha School and Vikas Vidyalaya, dirty water is sprinkled on passing students every day. Apart from this, since the main medical hub of the city is in this area, ambulances coming in emergencies, patients as well as thousands of citizens and devotees from wards 4 to 5 have to pass through this contaminated water. Incidents of vehicles slipping due to dirty water also happen. Honorary Minister of Jhalawar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Keyur Kothari, said, There is a months-old problem of returning sewage water to the underbridge from Hospital Road to Alankar Cinema Road. Even if there is no rain, the bridge remains filled with dirty water. Therefore, instead of providing a temporary solution to this problem, a permanent technical solution should be brought in by installing a non-return valve and automatic pump. The main demand presented by the Jhalawar Chamber
Installation of advanced non-return valves to prevent water from returning to the underbridge, installation of automatic mercible de-watering pumps and reconnecting of sewer lines by giving appropriate slope. Assigning written responsibility as a non-nodal officer to the executive engineer level officer of the corporation for monitoring. Permanent work not completed. Disposal of flooded water with mobile pumping.
