The GPCB has issued a notice to the Mini River on the issue of polluting the Mini river passing through the boundary of Old Samalaya village in Savli taluka of Vadodara district. In which two companies have been issued closure notices and a show-cause notice has been issued to one company. This has caused a stir in the industries of the diocese. Around July 7, some chemical units took advantage of the rainy weather and released chemical-laden brown water into the Mini River. Due to this, the water of the Mini river turned red and foamy. As a result, aquatic animals died. The cattle herders, farmers and locals of the diocese made a representation to the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) in this regard. The GPCB then came into action and inspected the situation on the spot and took water samples and conducted an investigation in the surrounding companies. In the investigation, it was also noted that contaminated water was going out through storm water drainage. After this, the GPCB has now called for a closure. A closure notice has been issued to a company named Miracle Science and Technology LLP located on Old Samalaya Road. It has also issued a closure notice to a company named Kapita Hatchery. Apart from this, a show cause notice has been issued to a company named Geo Cleaner. Sources said that around 6,000 HDPE drums were found to be stored from the company's premises without proper labelling during the investigation. The GPCB has initiated closure action against the company on the issue of violation of rules related to environment and pollution control.
