Couple caught with MD drugs from Scorpio: Consignment being taken to Ahmedabad, consignment worth Rs 57.19 lakh seized; Vadodara LCB Zone-4

The Vadodara city LCB Zone 4 team has seized a large quantity of Mephedrone (MD) drugs being transported from Madhya Pradesh to Ahmedabad in a strict action taken on the basis of a tip-off. The couple was detained by the police after intercepting a Scorpio car passing through the road in front of the Air Force gate from Golden Chowk towards Lexon and seized a total of Rs 57,19,630. The couple used to smuggle interstate drugs. Ayub Khan Mohammed Zaman Khan and his wife Nazmeen, residents of Surajni village in Sitamau taluka of Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district, were involved in illegal inter-state drug smuggling for their own financial gains. The accused, Nazmeen, had concealed a consignment of mephedrone drugs on his body. The couple were on their way to Ahmedabad from Mandsaur in a Mahindra Scorpio car they owned. The consignment of drugs was to be delivered to Ahmedabad The scam was busted by the LCB Zone 4 team during an NDPS raid at the Harni police station compound last evening. During interrogation, it was found that the accused had purchased the drugs from a man named Jaffer of Mandsaur for Rs 7,00,000 in cash and were to sell it to a person named Ravi, a resident of Ahmedabad. Police have intensified the investigation as both drug supplier Jaffer and customer Ravi are absconding in the crime. Seizure of contraband worth Rs 57.19 lakh including 1 kg MD The police have seized 1 kg 396 grams and 710 mg of Mephedrone drugs (worth Rs 41,90,130), empty plastic bags, mobile phones, cash and a Scorpio car worth Rs 15,00,000 from Nazmeen's possession.
