A heart-wrenching incident took place today (May 7, 2026) afternoon near Kagdipura village in Waghodia taluka of Vadodara district. Mithun, a resident of Kagdipura area of Vyara village, had gone to graze cattle in Vasava border. Thirsty due to the scorching heat, he took a plastic can with him and lowered it on the banks of the Dev river to fetch water. Sir Sainik Babubhai of the ERC Fire Brigade in Vadodara said, "We reached there at around 3 pm as soon as we received the call. The crocodile was very big, about 11 to 12 feet tall. He kept going into the water with his body in his mouth. We took the boat and reached about 10 feet of the crocodile, but it dived into the water and drifted half a kilometre away. The water is also very deep so it is difficult to catch it.
