A 13-year-old mentally ill girl was allegedly raped in a village in Valsad taluka. A complaint has been lodged at Valsad Rural police station against a minor juvenile living in the neighbourhood. The police have registered a case under the Indian Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act and further investigation is underway. According to the police complaint, the victim has 75 per cent mental disorder. The accused minor juvenile lives in his neighbourhood. The incident took place around 4pm on April 30. The teenager was playing outside the house with her brother that day. The accused minor had come there at that time. Taking advantage of the girl's mother being busy with household chores, the accused took the girl aside and behaved indecently with her. When the girl's mother came out around five in the evening, she found the teenager and his daughter in an objectionable condition. The accused juvenile fled from the spot on seeing his mother. An examination of the terrified teenager revealed injuries on her private parts from which it was found that she had been wronged. The girl's father was told the whole truth after he returned home. The family has lodged a complaint at the Valsad rural police station. The police have registered a case under Sections 64(2)(k), 65 (1) of BNS and Sections 4, 5 (k), 6 of the POCSO Act and started investigation. According to the complaint, the mother of the victim said, "My daughter has been mentally ill since birth and is undergoing treatment. The boy who lives in the neighbourhood should be punished severely for what he has done by taking advantage of his compulsion."
