Director-producer Vikram Bhatt's mother Varsha Bhatt has passed away. The last rites were performed at versova crematorium in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. According to an ANI news agency report, 85-year-old Varsha Bhatt was suffering from illness for a long time. Vikram Bhatt's grandfather Vijay Bhatt was from Palitana in Gujarat. He was also one of the founders of Hindi cinema. Producer, director and screenwriter Vijay is best known for his films 'Ram Rajya' (1943), 'Gunj Uthi Shehnai' (1959) and 'Himalaya Ki God Mein' (1965). Apart from this, Varsha's husband and Vikram's father and cinematographer Praveen Bhatt is known for films including 'Sadak' (1991), 'Agnipath' (1990), 'Aashiqui' (1990). While Vikram Bhatt entered Bollywood at the age of 14. He joined Mukul Anand's debut film 'Kanoon Kya Karega' (1984) as an assistant director. Vikram later directed Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji starrer 'Ghulam' (1998). However, bipasha basu and dino moreo starrer horror-romantic film 'Raaz' earned him a name. Later, he did films like 'Etbar', 'Footpath' and 'Raaz 3' under the banner of Mahesh Bhatt-Mukesh Bhatt under vishesh films.
