Alleged Superstitious Practices Exposed in Dhanej Village; Self-Styled Godman Reportedly Issues Written Apology

Kalol (Gandhinagar): Acting on a complaint alleging the promotion of superstition and misleading religious claims, a team from the Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha conducted an operation in Dhanej village of Kalol taluka in Gandhinagar district in the presence of local police. According to the organization, this was its 1,288th successful exposure of alleged fraudulent practices.

As per information released by the organization, Jayesh Natwarlal Prajapati, a resident of Dhanej village, was allegedly conducting religious rituals at his residence in the name of Sikotar Mata, Nagdevta, and Goga Maharaj, claiming to provide remedies for ancestral issues, pitru dosh (ancestral afflictions), incurable diseases, and family-related problems. The organization further alleged that he regularly conducted divination practices on every Pancham (fifth day of the lunar fortnight) and purported to diagnose or resolve people's problems through ritualistic methods, thereby influencing vulnerable individuals.

The action was reportedly initiated following a complaint lodged by an elderly resident of Siddhpur in Patan district. Advocate Jayant Pandya, Chairman of Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha, sought police protection from the Kalol Police Station, following which an inquiry was conducted at the location in the presence of police personnel.

According to the organization, discussions were subsequently held at the police station in the presence of all concerned parties. It is claimed that Jayesh Natwarlal Prajapati agreed to discontinue such activities and provided a written undertaking acknowledging his mistake. The organization further stated that he offered an apology to the public. However, no independent official statement confirming these claims has been issued by the police or any other government authority.

Members of the Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha, including Jayant Pandya, Romit Rajdev, Gulabsinh Chauhan, Ravi Parbatani, Sahil Rajdev, Bhaktiben Rajgor, and Bhanuben Shethia, reportedly participated in the operation. The organization also acknowledged the cooperation of the Kalol Police staff in maintaining law and order during the proceedings.
