Apart from being home to historical and natural monuments, the natural monuments in Vadodara city, known as 'Vad's Uddar', also include the magnificent Baobab tree located in Ganpatpura village of Padra taluka.
In Ganpatpura village, about 15 kilometres from Vadodara city, the baobab tree, originally from abroad, is a native of Africa. Standing in the middle of open fields, this huge tree has been notified as a 'heritage tree' by the forest department in the year 2014. Known as the blind tree, this baobab tree is a long-lived autumn tree. The oldest and 2450-year-old Baobab in the record so far is in Zimbabwe.
