A complaint has been lodged with the Cyber Crime Police that Rs 8 lakh was withdrawn from the bank account of an oil trader of GIDC after downloading the e-challan app. However, the merchant immediately reached the bank and got Rs 3 lakh back. Kailash Chandra Khatik, a resident of Meldinagar and an oil businessman, told the police that on July 23, a traffic challan APK file was sent to the WhatsApp group of the society. It was the logo of the insurance and the vehicles that were downloaded. The message was to go ahead to find out if there was a traffic challan on the vehicle. The mobile phone was hacked when businessman Kailash Chandra entered the vehicle number. When I opened the HDFC Bank app on the phone, it did not open. The merchant received messages of debit transactions and Rs 8 lakh was deducted from his HDFC account at different times. Before the money was withdrawn from the account, he reached the bank and received Rs 3 lakh out of the transferred money. While 5 lakh has not yet been received. So the cyber cell has registered a case. The police have contacted the bank for information about the bank account in which the money was deposited and then went to. In this information, the names and addresses of the bank account holders are being searched for the fraudsters. Thinking it would be useful information, I clicked
Businessman Kailash Chandra Khatik hails from Rajasthan. Rajasthanis living in Vadodara have created a group on social media. In which all the members of the society are present. Thinking that there would be some useful information in the group, the merchant clicked on it and downloaded the APK file. The first Rs 5 lakh and later Rs 3 lakh were transferred from his account to another account. Hacker gets access to phone as soon as APK is downloaded
Cyber expert Ashish Patel said that the cyber mafia sends attractive messages on social media to lure people. There are links such as e-challans, government schemes, wedding or birthday invitations. By clicking on the link, the hackers get full access to the phone as soon as the APK file is downloaded and installed as malware. These include messages, contacts, banking apps and OTPs.
