Man snatched Rs 15.50 from doctor, contacted him through WhatsApp and gave him a receipt of Rs 50,000, became a college official in a hotel in Hyderabad and switched off his phone.

In Ahmedabad, a doctor who was dreaming of getting his daughter admitted to engineering courses in the city of Ahmedabad has been snatched of Rs 15.50 lakh by the men who contacted him on WhatsApp. The daughter could not be admitted as she got low marks in the BITSAT. During this time, Niharika Sharma and Pratik Gupta contacted and talked about getting admission in the vacant seats for foreign students in BITS Pilani. Initially, after asking for Rs 16 lakh, he talked about booking a seat for Rs 50,000. After winning the trust by sending a receipt of Rs 50,000, he also got the documents of his daughter. After that, two men in a hotel in Hyderabad took Rs 15 lakh by claiming that they had been admitted to the admission committee of BITS Pilani. After receiving the money, everyone's mobile phones were switched off. The daughter gave the BITSAT exam to the doctor Dr. Gopal Bhatia, who lives in the ISKCON River Site flat next to the stadium in Shahibaug. Gopal Bhatia has an Ahmedabad psychiatric clinic near the Civil Hospital. Gopal Bhatia lives with his wife Moushmi and daughter Mitra. Mitra passed the class 12 exam in June 2026. After that, he took the BITCET exam of Birla Institute of Technology and Science University to get admission in engineering. But due to low marks, he was not admitted to an engineering college. Mitra is currently studying engineering in Patiala, Punjab. Niharika Sharma-Pratik Gupta were contacted at the time of admission attempt Niharika Sharma and Pratik Gupta were contacted on Gopal Bhatia's WhatsApp when the family was trying to get Mitra's admission. Both of them told Gopal that Mitra's BEATS had scored low marks, but the seats for foreign students in the engineering college of BEATS were vacant. He assured to get Mitra admitted in this seat. He said that he would have to pay Rs 16 lakh for this. The doctor trusted Niharika Sharma for his daughter's admission Gopal did not respond initially. However, Niharika Sharma used to call frequently and talk about the admission. Later, she was asked to pay five lakh rupees. Gopal did not respond to that either. After that, Niharika talked about booking a seat by paying Rs 50,000. Keeping in mind his daughter's engineering future, Gopal believed his words. When he gave Rs 50,000, he also sent a receipt Niharika sent the details of the bank on WhatsApp. Gopal deposited Rs 50,000 in it. After receiving the amount, Niharika also sent a receipt. After this, all the documents for Mitra's admission were called on WhatsApp. After this, Niharika asked Gopal to give a cheque of Rs 16 lakh. When the daughter is admitted, she will pay Rs 16 lakh in cash and the cheque will be returned. She paid Rs 15 lakh, filed a complaint for not getting admission After this, Gopal Bhatia went to Hyderabad with his wife Mousmi and daughter Mitra. They stayed in a hotel. Two men named Vivaan and Virendra came to meet them at the hotel. Both of them identified themselves as authorized persons of the admission committee at BITS Pilani University. Both of them took Gopal into confidence by saying that Mitra had been admitted. Believing that his daughter had been admitted, Gopal paid Rs 15 lakh to both of them. However, even after paying the amount, Mitra was not admitted. When Gopal tried to contact Niharika, Prateek, Vivaan and Virendra, the mobile numbers of all of them were switched off. He could not be contacted on WhatsApp either. Therefore, Gopal found that he had been cheated. Gopal Bhatia has lodged a complaint against Vivaan, Virendra, Niharika Sharma, Prateek Gupta and Vedika Singh at Madhavpura police station in this regard.
