Ahmedabad News: Rickshaw drivers protested in Ahmedabad over the increase in CNG gas prices. The rickshaw drivers demanded that the minimum fare be increased from Rs 20 to Rs 30. The rickshaw drivers submitted a memorandum to the transport officer and the transport minister to increase the price. If their demands were not accepted in the coming days, rickshaw pullers from all over the state were gathered and threatened to protest. Rickshaw drivers protested against the hike in fares for the last four years amid rising inflation. He also threatened to boycott the next election if the prices were not increased.

Rickshaw drivers said that no hike in the minimum fare has made it difficult to make ends meet. The price of CNG gas has been increasing continuously in the last one year. Applications have been submitted to many places, including the Collector, to increase the rickshaw fare.

Union leaders said that the price of CNG gas has been increasing in the last one year, but there has been no increase in the fare of rickshaws. On the one hand, the prices of fuel and spare parts have skyrocketed, while on the other hand, it is no longer affordable for rickshaw drivers to drive rickshaws in the old fare. The Rickshaw Drivers Ekta Union has demanded that the minimum fare of rickshaws be increased to Rs 20 from the current rate. Rickshaw pullers say that in this era of inflation, having a minimum fare of less than 20 is a big blow to their business.   During the protest, the rickshaw pullers have threatened to launch a fierce agitation if the government does not pay heed to their legitimate demands in the coming days.
