In the rural areas around the Gir forest, there has been an increase in the movement of lions in search of prey at night. Such scenes have become common in most villages of Gir diocese. It has been raining incessantly in the Gir area for the last five days. Due to the rainy weather, lions prefer to live more in the border and wadi areas of rural areas rather than deep parts of the forest. Due to rains in the forest, the mosquito infestation in the grass increases, due to which the lions leave the grassy areas and come to the open areas. Here they can easily find prey like milch cattle. So, they have started reaching the streets and residential areas of the villages for hunting. A similar incident has come to light in Amrapur village of Gir today. CCTV cameras have captured the scenes of two lions passing through the residential street of the village in search of prey at night.
