Suspicious drones spotted at Amritsar airport: Spotted hovering near runway, 7 flights diverted; Security agencies on alert

Suspicious drone-like flying objects were spotted in the operational area of the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport in Amritsar. The incident took place around 10 pm on Sunday. As soon as suspicious movement was noticed around the runway, the air traffic control immediately issued an alert. As a precautionary measure, the landing of seven flights coming to Amritsar was stopped. According to the information, these suspicious drones or UAV-like objects were seen coming towards the airport from Rudala village. For some time, the objects kept moving around the runway and the sensitive area in the vicinity. The incident was considered serious from the point of view of security as Amritsar is very close to the international border. CISF-Police took the lead, security was increased. As soon as the alert was received, CISF, Punjab Police and other security agencies became active. Security arrangements were further tightened in and around the airport premises. At the same time, keeping in mind the safety of passengers and aircraft, ATC immediately changed the routes of many flights. Was it a drone or something else? Investigation is underway Currently, security agencies are investigating the entire matter and efforts are being made to find out whether the suspicious flying objects were actually drones or some other thing. After the incident, alertness has also been increased regarding the security arrangements at the airport.
