The growing menace of leopards in Khali village of Bardoli taluka has alarmed the locals. Farm labourers and pastoralist families living in front of the Kedareshwar temple are facing problems due to the presence of the leopard. Around 20 days ago, at bhikhabhai halpati's house, a leopard had hunted a hen from a tamarind tree and fled to the field. On the night of the 15th of last month, the leopard once again hunted the hen. This time the roof of Bhikhabhai's house was also broken. On a summer night, the leopard tried to attack 5-6 children who were sleeping outside. The children saved their lives by shouting as soon as they saw the leopard. Following the incident, the villagers and the sarpanch of Afwa village lodged a complaint with the Friends of Animals Welfare Trust and the forest department. The forest department had put up a cage in the area. Recently, footprints of wildlife were seen in jigneshbhai chavda's farm near Chandpir Dargah in Bardoli town. Two days ago, a leopard had escaped from the house of Mangabhai Sukhabhai Halpati after hunting a goat and escaping to the sugarcane field. The leopard was spotted in the bushes area behind the parking lot near Kedareshwar temple last evening. The local forest department team has been informed about this.
