soybean powder

If you want to check if the paneer is real or fake, you can take the help of soybean powder

Heat water in a pan.
Add the paneer pieces.
Then add some soybean powder.
If the colour of the water turns red, then the paneer may be adulterated.

In some instances, spurious paneer has also been found to contain harmful substances like detergent or urea.

Identify with

rubbing test

paneer can also be identified by gently rubbing it with a finger.

If the paneer crumbles as soon as it is crushed, there may be a possibility of adulteration.
While real paneer usually retains its texture and does not break easily.

can also be identified by the texture of the paneer.

Real cheese: soft, spongy and fresh.

Fake cheese: harder than rubbery and has a tighter texture.

Test with

iodine tincture

Paneer can also be tested with the help of

iodine tinctures.

Take water in a pot and boil a piece of paneer in it for 5 minutes.

Then let it cool.

Now put a few drops of iodine tincture on it

If the colour of the paneer turns blue, there may be a possibility of starch or adulteration.
