POCSO accused who escaped from police custody in filmy style caught: Vadodara's SSG Hospital escaped with his fists clenched while opening his handcuffs for injections; The Crime Branch has seized the case

Govind Rameshbhai Mahania, an accused in the rape and POCSO case, who was brought to SSG Hospital in Vadodara for treatment, escaped in a filmy style after pushing the policeman as soon as he opened his handcuffs to give injections. He was not traced even after five hours of search with the help of Raopura police and drones. Finally, the Vadodara Crime Branch nabbed him from the Canal area within a few hours on the basis of CCTV footage and information. As soon as the handcuffs were opened to give the injection, the accused pushed the police and fled. The accused, Govind Mahania, who is lodged in Bahucharaji and Vadodara Central Jail, was brought to Ward No. 5 of SSG Hospital under police custody on August 6 due to skin problems. At around 12.30 pm, the handcuffs were opened near the hospital canteen to give him the second injection. Drone cameras were used to search the building and an appeal was made to get out safely by making an announcement from the mike. However, the Raopura police searched the entire building for 5 hours but the accused could not be found. A case under Section 262 of the BNS was registered at Raopura police station regarding the incident. The Crime Branch seized the cordoned off the canal Teams of Vadodara Crime Branch then joined the investigation. After examining human resources and CCTV footage, it was found that the accused was coming towards his residence near the canal. As soon as the accused reached there late on the night of August 6, the crime branch cordoned him and handed him over to the Raopura police for further legal action.
