National Highway 48, which passes through Vadodara district, has once again become bloodied. The accident took place in front of Balaji Petrol Pump on the road leading from Tarsali Bypass to Jambua Bridge near Vadodara. A 27-year-old cyclist died on the spot after being hit by the driver of a speeding Eicher tempo. The incident has been captured on a CCTV camera at Balaji petrol pump. The deceased youth was identified as Hasmukh and he used to earn his livelihood by working as a labourer. He was originally a resident of Indiranagar in Khedbrahma taluka of Aravalli district. For the past six months, he had been working as a labourer in Vadodara city and supporting his family. He was riding a bicycle at the time of the accident when the driver of an Eicher tempo coming from behind hit him severely. The incident became even more tragic when the young man was battling between life and death for half an hour after the accident. Motorists and pedestrians in the vicinity just watched instead of helping him which questioned the humanity of Vadodara city. The incident highlights the scenes where people were ignoring the accident victim instead of providing immediate help, however, the Vadodara police staff and the 108 ambulance team immediately reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. They shifted the body of the youth to Sayaji Hospital for postmortem. Driver arrested for causing accident
The accused tempo driver has been identified as Vanrajsinh Pratap Singh Chauhan, a resident of Ahima village, Tehsil Umreth, Anand district. He has been arrested by the Kapurai police. The sister of the deceased Hasmukh has lodged a complaint against the accused driver at Kapurai police station in this regard.
